It's almost three years since Taoiseach Enda Kenny's one and only meeting with Garda whistleblower Maurice McCabe.

He was canvassing Mullingar during the Longford-Westmeath by-election in May 2014 when Mr McCabe just happened to be on duty directing traffic.

The Taoiseach crossed the street to shake the hand of the man whose testimony in the Guerin Report played a major role in the subsequent resignation of Alan Shatter as justice minister.
