Kennedy myth descends into car-crash TV
Camelot seems a long way away for the remaining members of the troubled political dynasty, writes Donal Lynch
THE hits just keep coming for the Kennedys. While the storied Irish-American dynasty slowly loses all grip on hard political power, its scions continually manage to put the family in the news for the wrong reasons.
The latest instalment of the Kennedy curse was written last week by Kerry Kennedy, former wife of New York governor Andrew Cuomo. On Monday she stood on the steps of a New York courthouse and blamed a seizure for a crash, caused last week after her white Lexus careered into a truck on a local highway.
Kennedy fled the scene and was later found slumped at the wheel of the car. Police charged her with driving under the influence of drugs. However, RFK's daughter said that numerous neurological tests showed that she had instead suffered a partial seizure, which was the result of a previous head injury.
