Katherine Donnelly: System should sit up and listen to academic expert's opinion

WHEN a senior academic economist expresses a view about how second-level students are being assessed in his area of expertise, the system should take note.

Dr Kevin Denny has been around economics and students for more than 30 years, having studied the subject in UCD, and returning there with his doctorate to start as a lecturer in the early 90s.

His CV also includes spending 2010 in the economics department at the University of Kentucky, USA, and he reckons he has set about 100 exam papers and tests.
