John Meagher: 10 rounds with Katie Taylor as she carries our dreams into the Olympic boxing ring

It is an unmissable new addition to Dublin's St Stephen's Green. An enormous poster covering an entire building on the south side of the Georgian square features Katie Taylor in menacing stance. The accompanying slogan reads: "Only the strongest shoulders can carry the hopes of a nation."

But if the boxer from Bray, Co Wicklow -- who has won the last four World Championships in her weight class-- feels the strain of an expectant nation, she hides it well. Gracious and seemingly ego-free, the 26-year- old is arguably our strongest gold medal hope at these Games.

Besides the greatest sporting achievement of her career, Olympic glory would elevate Brand Katie into the stratosphere and the lucrative endorsements that follow would make her the richest Irish female sports star of them all.
