A new crisis is afflicting Ireland's relationship with Europe, for while we may have sorted out all the bankruptcy and troika difficulties, suddenly Enda finds he is suffering from an acute shortage of EU commissioner posts.
Traditionally Europe has provided the Irish political system with an elephants' graveyard, where those who have proved to be troubling to Dear Leaders for various reasons, be it Pee Flynn or Charlie McCreevy, have been transported.
However, on this occasion when it comes to the great golden calf of the EU commissioner's job, suddenly, to paraphrase the Weather Girls, it's raining candidates.
