John Downing: Reilly is in trouble but he's far from the only problem
JAMES Reilly's fundamental problem is that he is facing into too many battles all at once. There is a strong view around Leinster House that his own financial difficulties and/or his political troubles will make it increasingly difficult for him to soldier on as Health Minister.
But James Reilly is not the only minister in the political wars right now. In fact, the 'troubled list' tots up to eight ministers currently in difficulty -- more than half the entire Cabinet.
These include the Taoiseach and Tanaiste who have each shown poor political and personnel management skills over the past month.
