If anybody believes the "new" Government acts -- or would have acted -- in a manner different from the last, then surely the performance of the Taoiseach last week has ripped away what was always a fallacy so threadbare.



In general, we speak of Ireland's interactions with Europe, or its various authorities, Germany and the ECB in particular, towards whom the Government peeks over a wall inscribed 'Kilroy was here', or Gilmore was there.

The joke is on us.
