Jim Cusack: Exclusive agency filmed advising would-be escort
Prime Time's recent expose revealed both extremes of the prostitution industry here, writes Jim Cusack
Filmed secretly as part of a six-month Prime Time investigation into Ireland's vice trade, a blonde woman said to be Samantha Blandford-Hutton told an undercover RTE researcher about the dos and don'ts of operating as a prostitute for the "exclusive" Dublin "escort" operation, Agency-XXX.
The programme, Profiting from Prostitution, featured the agency said to be run by Blandford-Hutton and also followed a group of eastern European prostitutes who were being driven around the country to brothels in Dublin, Athlone, Dundalk and Ennis. The eastern European women were at the bottom end of the vice trade in Ireland. Blandford-Hutton's operation was, by comparison, upmarket with young women charging a minimum of €150 per session.
The programme reported that three of the young eastern European women had been arrested by gardai in Dundalk and faced charges of running a brothel from an apartment in the town.
