James Fitzsimons: Rabbitte has head in sand over outrageous pensions
The minister must realise that such exorbitance could bankrupt the State, writes James Fitzsimons
Last week the Minister for Communications, Pat Rabbitte, described as incessant the assault on public servants and suggestions that job security should end.
He said it demoralises workers. If the Government was stronger and knew what it was doing, it could implement reforms that are fair.
No minister can justify such waste. The Government's bully-boy tactics suggest we should stand idly by in the face of their incompetence. The Government wasn't in the job a wet day when the better bailout they promised was rejected by the EU. The public sector has tied them up in knots at every attempt to cut cost and redundant positions.
