It's the lack of information that has really annoyed people
Irish Water should have just told us sooner about costs, writes Paul Melia
THE Government and Irish Water could have done themselves and the public an enormous service by revealing the spending on consultants at an earlier date.
There's little doubt that the vast bulk of the €86m was money well-spent, but it's the lack of information which has really annoyed people.
We have now learnt that not only did the Department of the Environment know in November 2012 that it would cost €180m to set up the company, they knew that external consultants would be employed.
