It was surreal: there were leaders here, leaders there, leaders everywhere
The Lough Erne resort boss tells Lise Hand how he coped with hosting the G8 summit
LAST Monday morning, Ferghal Purcell, general manager of the G8's Ground Zero, the Lough Erne Resort, watched as Marine One helicopter carrying President Obama hovered and landed close to the green of the resort's golf course.
"I knew exactly what he was going to do when he got out because I'm a golfer. He got out and he looked and saw the pin, looked back up and realised it was a Par 5 and the first thing he did was a little practice swing," explained Ferghal.
Barack Obama then walked over to where the general manager was waiting to greet him. "The first thing I said was, 'It's a soft wedge, Mr President'. He got a laugh out of that," he added.
