It pays to leave it late: going to the Games now costs you less

SPORTS fans who want to take a last minute trip to London for the Olympics will benefit from bargain prices compared to those who planned their trips months ago.

Figures compiled by the Irish Independent show that London hotel prices are down to a third of what they were a few months ago, flight prices are reasonable and face-value tickets are still available for many events via the official London 2012 website.

For those who'd like to see Ireland's best medal hope, Katie Taylor, in action, tickets were still available last night from £75 (€95) for her first round.
