There are many cures for a physical hangover, but the remedy for that morning-after fear is more elusive.
Last Sunday was the morning after the night before for me. I had hit the party with gusto, but in its aftermath came the usual need to find some inner peace. I went for a run on the nearby strand to clear my head and, on the way back, I stopped into a little church and slipped into a pew.
I didn't pray. I just felt I needed some quiet space to contemplate things.
