I didn't jump ship - I was pushed off gang plank, says artistic director

ON New Year's Eve, I wrote on these pages about Limerick City of Culture to coincide with its big opening night. In the piece, I voiced my concerns about what I perceived to be fundamental structural problems.

The launch passed in a flurry of fireworks, but on New Year's Day I received a message to say that Karl Wallace, Limerick City of Culture's artistic director, wanted to talk to me.

I knew there had been rumblings of discontent in the senior structure of the year-long festival.
