Howlin needs to overhaul his flawed FoI legislation

IRELAND will be doomed to a neverending saga of scandals and enduring public mistrust unless Minister Brendan Howlin's new Freedom of Information Act is overhauled.

Mr Howlin has made a lot of political hay out of his reform agenda but his flawed new act is stymieing the rights of citizens to access information they are entitled to.

In the past few months, scandals involving charities and the gardai have been front page news.
