G8 is a sideshow – but Michelle Obama inspires us to dream big
THERE were times when I cringed, times I felt sceptical, times I yelled "Enough already with the hypocrisy!" at the TV screen, and times I felt grateful the Obama visit was happening.
In other words, I was conflicted by elements of the First Family's stopover in Ireland. Mostly, though, it livened up a dull G8 summit.
State and media reaction to the Obama ladies' foray south of the Border was overblown. But having them here was useful.
