Fir goodness' sake, it's only a Christmas tree
I DEFY anyone to tell me that they bought, put up and decorated their Christmas tree without at least one argument. In some houses it's finding the right tree that can take hours, and in some cases days. In others it's the knotted, non-functioning lights that cause friction. And in many it's the decorating of the tree that creates tension.
We want our children to be involved, but the decorations are not javelins, to be flung from halfway across the room in the general direction of the tree. Or am I being pernickety?
I have one friend who, having just given birth, was unable to get out to choose her tree. She sent her husband back three times because the trees he brought home were "not right".
