Fiona O'Shea: Property tax debacle is not the Revenue's finest hour

Just when you thought it was safe to open your post box the Revenue has started to write to you again. It seems hardly a week ago since it put its shovel into your stores and took out a whole heap of money under the guise of the Local Property Tax. Seen any big improvements in your area lately?

Not content with that, they are back again, not quite demanding money with menace, but with some vague threat all the same.

If you paid your half-year property tax in one lump sum earlier this year – and it seems that hundreds of thousands of us did – then they are back telling you to let them know, by November 7 in paper form or by November 27 online, how you are planning to pay the tax next year. Or else . . .
