I LIVED in the red light district of Vienna in 2007. My apartment was the only building on the block that wasn't a brothel. The white prostitutes in fake fur coats hung out at the top of the street, while the black prostitutes occupied the bottom corner.
My first columns on political corruption were written from that apartment, looking out the window, watching the men decide on which women to have.
