Eamon Delaney: Gilmore could afford to skip boys-only Hibernian gig
Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore's decision to boycott a reception in the US on the eve of St Patrick's Day because it was 'men-only' begs the question as to whether one can be so politically correct when attending diplomatic events abroad.
It also begs the question of whether one can be so choosy when drumming up foreign investment at a time when the country needs all the support it can get, especially among wealthy Irish Americans.
No such worries for Taoiseach Enda Kenny, who yesterday presided over the traditional 'Shamrock Summit' at the White House, and handed over a bowl of the green stuff – in the expectation presumably of the other 'green stuff' in return, namely dollars and investment. It looks like Mr Kenny has even secured a second visit to Ireland.
