Dr Joe Lynch: Historic French glass firm is worth looking into
READERS may be tempted to think this column has a fondness for 'auld decency'. They're spot on. Nevertheless, it may be stretching things to be writing about a 350-year-old corporation.
However, when I explain that this company was once the pride and joy of the Sun King, Louis XIV, and that the French monarch once offered a great management insight when he declared: "Every time I create an appointment, I create a hundred malcontents and one ingrate."
I hope readers will understand why the French glass giant St Gobain is worth exploring.
