Donal O'Donovan: Sobering reminder we are not yet out of the woods

DANSKE Bank's withdrawal from the Irish market might not come as a big shock to market watchers, but it is striking that banks are leaving just as it looks like things are finally starting to improve here.

The big fear for policy makers and for individual and business customers is that more banks could follow – in particular, Ulster Bank.

Ulster's fate hangs in the balance, and just like Danske Bank, it's a decision that will be made outside Ireland.
