Dáil needs spine, not a head
The denizens of Dáil Éireann need their head examined. This appears to be the considered opinion of a government that presents alterations in the way the Ceann Comhairle is elected as an exercise in radical political change. Viva la revolution!
The more detail we hear about the "Dáil reform" proposals, the more meaningless they become.
Tinkering with the minutiae of the procedures and privileges to which parliamentarians are so devoted does precisely nothing to enhance the standing or effectiveness of politics.
