Daniel McConnell: Croke Park will be nail in the coffin of Coalition

Government divisions are widening as doubt emerges over public sector 'savings' figures, writes Daniel McConnell

LAST week's events show that whenever this Government falls, the issue most likely to bring it down will be the controversial Croke Park deal.

The very public clashes -- particularly between Leo Varadkar and Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore -- last Monday showed precisely how divided the Coalition is over the merits of Croke Park.

"Frankly, I would prefer if individual ministers didn't get up every Monday morning and express a point of view -- a personal point of view -- on the Croke Park Agreement or budget formation or whatever," the Tanaiste said.
