Cormac McQuinn: Fitzgerald, Bruton and Harris cannot hide in long grass forever in race to succeed Kenny

To all intents and purposes, the Fine Gael leadership race has begun. Leo Varadkar and Simon Coveney appear to be entering campaign mode - albeit in a low-key manner due to the continuing 'lack of a vacancy'.

But while they gear up for the battle ahead, three senior party figures remain in the long grass.

Almost two weeks after the storm over Taoiseach Enda Kenny's leadership began, Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald and ministers Richard Bruton and Simon Harris have still failed to rule themselves out of the running.
