Comment: New law to compel witnesses set for its first big test
LEGISLATION enacted last year allowing Dail committees to compel witnesses is now set to get its first big test.
The Dail's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has set a two-week deadline for former Rehab chief executives Angela Kerins and Frank Flannery to indicate they will attend a hearing – otherwise it will seek to compel their appearance.
The move comes after they both failed to show up last week. For Mr Flannery, it was the second time he snubbed the committee.
