Colm Kelpie: Only time will tell whether our 'grin and bear it' attitude pays off

THE docile manner in which we soaked up austerity measures over the past number of years presents conflicting signals.

Is it a testament to our apathy or an indication of a maturity which recognises that, while policies have been hard to bear, they were a necessary evil?

As the final bailout review wrapped up this week, a senior troika source mentioned he had been receiving letters from members of the public over the course of the three-year programme. Some were handwritten; others came via email.
