Coalition couple stay true to each other despite turbulence of political marriage
OK, so Enda didn't quite gaze fondly into the brown eyes of his Tanaiste and murmur, "we've come a long way baby," but that was the vibe in the room all the same. The Government was two years old yesterday, but in stern keeping with the anti-craic austerity ambience, there were no cakes, balloons or bouquets.
(Last year's attempt by some over-exuberant Young Fine Gaelers to celebrate Enda and Eamon's first anniversary with a frivolous photo call in Merrion Square was kiboshed by the Chief of the Fun Police, Pat Rabbitte).
Instead, the Taoiseach and Tanaiste held a press conference in Government Buildings to throw a few careful shapes about what they've achieved as a coalition couple since setting up political house together.
