A HUNDRED years ago, Ireland's most iconic feminist rolled up her sleeves and got stuck into the Dublin Lockout campaign.

Countess Constance Markievicz set herself on a path that would see her shoot Ireland's glass ceiling to pieces.

She took arms, became the first woman elected to Westminster and the Dail and the first female cabinet minister to be appointed in a European democracy.
