Cash is still king as bargains hard to find in 'normalised' market

Gone were the frenzied buyers, the sweat beading on their upper lip as they desperately fretted over a bumper pack of apartment blocks or bargain basement ghost estates.

Gone too were the gasps from onlookers who had no intention of buying themselves, but were there merely to soak up the odour of adrenaline emanating from a new wave of fledgling developers operating in a bottomed-out market.

And with security tightened to an intense degree – combined with a guarantee that no repossessed family homes or any property subject to a legal dispute would be sold – the protesters had also disappeared.
