Brendan O’Connor: Soon, Angela, there will be no Europe left to save
Merkel's refusal to do what is vital to save the euro could see her remembered as the lady who ended decades of peace, writes brendan O'connor
FRIDAY. Same old same old. The 'Big Four' have another hyped-up summit. Three of them come out saying they will do everything they can to save the euro and so on, and one comes out saying I am the Chancellor of Germany. I do not control Spanish banks, therefore I cannot give them my money. Yet again, everyone knows what needs to be done, but Germany refuses to do it.
They keep encouraging us to grow up and stop blaming Germany for all our problems. But if you look at the state we are all in, right now it seems that it is all Germany's fault.
