It is now timely to consider how to build on what has been achieved to date by developing a renewed wave of reforms

OVER the last week, the Irish people have, as one, been engrossed by the Anglo Tapes revelations. Consequently, the actions of a much larger group of people, the 300,000 or more who are public servants, have largely gone unnoticed.

These are not people who earn fat bonuses or have profit-sharing schemes to lose. They earn average salaries and pay their way from those. They are in every street in the country and work in every school, every hospital, every social welfare office and every garda station.
