Brave sergeant can get closure on six tough years
The real disgrace is what has happened to a garda whistleblower and his family at the hands of our State
When Taoiseach Enda Kenny announced the resignation of Justice Minister Alan Shatter last Wednesday, Garda Sergeant Maurice McCabe was in a meeting with his superiors in Mullingar garda station.
Sgt McCabe was discussing a recent bullying and harassment complaint he made against colleagues who he felt targeted him since he became a whistleblower.
Earlier that day, he received a text message from Sean Guerin, the barrister appointed to investigate his claims of garda misconduct, informing him that his report had been given to the Taoiseach.
