Bette Browne: Military brass aim firepower at Obama choice Power

AS Dublin-born Samantha Power faces her first US Senate confirmation hurdle as America's ambassador to the United Nations, a conservative alliance in Washington is working to try to derail her nomination.

The stick they have chosen to beat her with is similar to that which ultimately failed against President Barack Obama – the contention that Ms Power is somehow not really American or not American enough.

Ms Power's record puts her firmly on the side of aligning American might with global justice and the promotion of human rights.
