Bertie's life and times in the frame

But will all of the Taoiseach's friends be available to give the series a dig out, asks John Drennan

IF BERTIE Ahern has sensed that a lot of his colleagues have been talking about him behind his back recently, he would be right. For once, though, the Taoiseach is being whispered about for the best of reasons.

Fifth Column can exclusively reveal that the high profile independent documentary company Mint Productions is shooting a major documentary series on the Taoiseach's life and times.

The documentary, which is scheduled to go out on RTE in the autumn of 2008 is already "in production" and it is envisaged the series will be "on a similar scale and standard" to its acclaimed (and controversial) documentaries Haughey, Fine Gael -- A family at War and its high-profile portrait of the legal profession, Legal Eagles, which put many a four courts nose out of joint on its broadcast.
