A year on, I still mourn Patrick, my best friend
The crash has exacted a grim toll on too many pillars of the Irish community, writes Barry Egan
On the day Patrick Rocca took his own life -- on January 19 last year -- I received two texts from the wife of a prominent Irish businessman.
"So sorry to hear about Patrick. The pressure people are under at the moment is unreal. [My husband] can handle it but when he's honest about how bad things are, people sneer," she said.
"It's just not funny. And it's going to get worse. Poor Patrick. I bet he was just trying to protect his family. He was such a great guy. And such a laugh. I just can't believe it.
