A ray of sunshine on a cold and bleak morning in Dublin's neglected outlands
IT was a cold, bleak morning in Jobstown. I arrived in a taxi provided by my hosts as I was in unfamiliar territory in the sprawling estates of west Dublin. It was overwhelmingly grey outside until I approached the brightly painted community of buildings comprising An Cosan.
An Cosan is the Irish word for 'Path'; an inspirational name chosen by a student for this centre for "leadership, learning and enterprise" in west Tallaght.
Formerly called the 'Shanty' project, it began in the home of Katherine Zappone and Anne Louise Gilligan near Brittas 27 years ago.
