An Athy pub has been banned from selling tobacco products for 30 days after pleading guilty to breaching the smoking ban.

An Athy pub has been banned from selling tobacco products for 30 days after pleading guilty to breaching the smoking ban.

Last week, Athy District Court heard how three women were observed lighting up and enjoying a fag in an area with "four walls and a roof" in the Smugglers Bar in the town.

The pub owners were left without a conviction, but were also ordered to pay €2,500 to the Men's Cancer section of the Irish Cancer Society.
