There was drama and comedy in equal measure at the Golden Globes - and that was just the frocks.

On stage at the 71st annual awards bash, there was no clear winner, with true story 12 Years a Slave, caper American Hustle and sci-fi adventure Gravity all walking away with gongs.

Outside LA's Beverly Hilton hotel, things were just as hit and miss on the red carpet.

From the sublime (Amy Adams) to the ridiculous (Miranda Kerr), here we reveal the Golden Globes red carpet winners and losers.

Yeah, baby! Amy Adams channelled her American Hustle character in a red-hot Marchesa halter neck and teardrop necklace. It's either that, or the super-toned 39-year-old raided the movie's wardrobe department. But it doesn't matter how she did it because she looks seventies-tastic.

Zoe Saldana (35) told how designer Prabal Gurung called her to say she was the only one he could see wearing this 'unique' dress. Given that it's landed the actress on the 'Worst Dressed' list, we're not quite sure whether that's a compliment or an insult.

Poor Emma Watson couldn't decide whether to wear a dress or trousers to the Golden Globes -- so she threw on both. The 23-year-old appeared to be wearing jeggings under her backless Dior dress. Where's Harry Potter and his magic wand when you need him?LOSER MIRANDA KERR

Liz Hurley called -- she wants her safety pins back. After-party guest Miranda Kerr (30) left little to the imagination in this Emilio Pucci almost-dress. Handy woman to have around in case of a wardrobe malfunction though!

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara dominated the red carpet -- literally. Her Zac Posen floor-sweeper is so big, it practically got its own invite. Hugging every inch of the 41-year-old's hourglass curves though, we hope it got a goodie bag too.

Sunday's Golden Globes coincided with international Kiss a Ginger Day. And looking sharp in a Tom Ford tux, sunglasses and that signature ginger beard, who wouldn't want to show Mr Fassbender (36) their appreciation for redheads everywhere.

It was 12 Years a Slave star Lupito Nyong'o's first time at the Golden Globes. Sizzling in an orange-red Ralph Lauren gown though, the Kenyan actress (30) shut it down. Might as well cancel the Oscars best-dressed contest right now.

At 49, Sandra Bullock hasn't a single wrinkle.

This misshapen Prabal Gurung number, on the other hand, has enough for both of them. It's a thud back down to earth for the star, who's been rocking the red carpet for Gravity recently. Let's hope she's got something out of this world -- and an iron -- on standby for Oscar night.

August: Osage County star Julia Roberts (46) meant business in Dolce & Gabbana. No, really, the Best Supporting Actress nominee looked more like she was off to a board meeting than an awards ceremony.

American Hustle? More like American Rustle in this loo-roll inspired Dior dress. The 23-year-old shuffled away with Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film. But there's no prizes for this over-accessorised, under-flattering affair.
