International Women's Day celebrations effectively kicked off midweek with a powerful gathering of ladies at the Marker Hotel's rooftop lounge for what was a fun-filled afternoon, with a delightful unexpected guest.

The intimate lunch marked the launch of this year's Bobbi Brown philanthropic 'Pretty Powerful' campaign and of their limited-edition black mascara, with all proceeds donated to Dress for Success Dublin, a charity that helps women on low income find a job and become financially independent.

Sonya Lennon brought the charity to Ireland. Last year, the initiative raised almost €4,000 for Dress for Success.

Sonya raised a glass to thank Cheryl Joannides, general manager of Bobbi Brown in the UK, who flew in for the event. Other guests included Mary Moloney of Accenture, Melanie Morris, editor in chief of Image Publications, director Selina Cartmell and actress Camille O'Sullivan.

Camille's nine-month-old baby daughter Lila- Elodie stole everyone's heart when she made a surprise appearance before the end of the lunch and the sight of her bottle being warmed in a champagne ice bucket generated much amusement as we queued to get a cuddle from the beautiful doe-eyed infant.
