legal eagles soar around blackhall for calcutta run
Brian Murphy of Connolly Sellors Geraghty solicitors in Limerick led home another big entry of well over 1,000 in Saturday's Calcutta Run 10k which started and finished in Dublin's Blackhall Place.
This is an annual event organised by the Law Society and supported by many firms of solicitors and other professional groupings.
It is a huge fundraiser for GOAL and the Peter McVerry Trust and Saturday's event alone will have raised €200,000 for these charities.
Murphy, who also runs for Ennis Track Athletic Club, came home a clear winner- finishing in 35:24.
Shane Collins (A&L Goodbody) placed second in 36:14 and David O'Connell was third in 36:47.
Robert Connolly (Abrivia Recruitment), who won the inaugural Dublin Port Tunnel Run some years ago, made a return to running action in the event – finishing in 17th position in 41:22 while pushing his two-and-a-half-year-old son, Cillian, around the course in a running buggy.
Another runner to finish well up the field was GOAL CEO, Barry Andrews.
Fiona O'Riordan (A&L Goodbody) won the women's race in 42:31. Sarah Ryan (Williams Solicitors) placed second in 45:03 and Caroline Murphy, (McCann FitzGerald solicitors) was third in 45:22.
This was an excellently organised event and participants were able to avail of generous helpings of food and drink in the park at Blackhall Place – the start and finish area for the event.
