The clocks have gone forward and it is finally, officially feeling like spring time. Brighter mornings and evenings mean more get-up-and-go, and more opportunities to get out and about outside your working week. So what are you going to do with your extra time?

Our cover star Lisa Cannon has used her free time to step entirely outside her comfort zone. The glamorous television presenter spends her working life interviewing the rich and famous on the red carpet, but this Saturday she is competing in her first powerlifting competition.

On a quest for strength and resilience, she has completely changed her lifestyle and is a woman on a mission. We wish Lisa all the luck in the world. Keep it up – you will be able to lift the celebrities you interview above your head before you know it.

In this week's issue we also look at the growing sport of roller derby and what it takes to become involved. In addition, we meet professional golfer Kevin Phelan and talk to him about his hopes for the future as he plays the European Tour.

All that plus, of course, the wide array of great columns from our team of experts.

Daniel Davey answers your many questions regarding nutrition, Corina Gaffey and Asher Senyk review all the latest gear on the market, Siobhan Byrne talks you through strengthening your core for running, while Catherina McKiernan discusses the importance of staying relaxed so as to achieve a superlative athletic performance.
