Colombian questions

Colourful Fianna Fail Senator Mary White and equally colourful Fine Gaeler Jerry Buttimer are at loggerheads.

It started with White questioning the European Union's planned free trade agreement with Colombia, where she visited seven times on a "human rights mission", prompting smirking on the opposition side of the Dail chamber as memories of her mission to the Colombia Three were revived.

Buttimer said he would love to hear a definition of "human rights", adding that he clearly differed from the Fianna Fail Senator in this case.

White shot back at him: "That is an outrageous statement. A person is presumed innocent until found guilty.

"How dare the Senator? We live in a Republic, a free state, not a totalitarian state."
