My dream weekend would be in LA. My boyfriend, John Conroy, is a cinematographer, and has been shooting Penny Dreadful out there since last summer.
I'd stay at the Viceroy in Santa Monica. The CEO of the Viceroy group is visionary Irishman Bill Walsh. Staying at any of his hotels is a treat.
On Friday night, I'd go for dinner to a little Caribbean restaurant across from the hotel called Cha Cha Chicken. It's casual, and it's also a great place to go after the beach.
Saturday is spent browsing the farmers' market on 3rd Street. It's a pedestrianised street, and a great area to grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Also, I could easily spend an hour in Sephora; it's my weakness.
On Saturday night, we'd have a sundowner at Shutters on the Beach, then head to Chi Spacca on Melrose to meet friends. If it's a late night, we'll hit Pinks, a roadside hot-dog joint where people go after awards shows in full black tie. You never know who you'll see!
Sunday is all about brunch by the Viceroy pool. Their breakfast menu is sensational.
One of my fondest memories is of being on the roller coaster on Santa Monica pier, looking over the ocean, the sun in my face. It was one of the first holidays with the kids after my divorce, and is where I fell in love with life again.
