Win a field trip to Iceland? Here's the latest reason to love this country
Got the back to school blues? How about swapping them for the Blue Lagoon, thanks to the 'Iceland Academy'?
Its soccer team won our hearts. Its budget airline brought us direct flights. Now Iceland's 'Academy' is dropping the latest lovebomb on visitors.
A new series of tongue-in-cheek video tutorials has been launched as part of a tourist campaign aiming to show what life is like as a local.
Released by promotional partnership, Inspired by Iceland, the videos offer insider tips on Icelandic food (misunderstood), fashion (how to do sub-zero... in style), seeing the Northern Lights (amazing... yet elusive) and more.
Viewers who complete a short quiz after watching the videos can enter a competition to win a once in a lifetime 'field trip' to Iceland.
The trip includes flights with IcelandAir, a Northern Lights tour, whale-watching and four nights' accommodation in the capital, Reykjavik.
All entrants get an 'Iceland Academy' badge. Whoop!
The video guides aim to help visitors understand Icelandic culture, nature and etiquette and to encourage safe and responsible travel.
Tourism is booming in the country - with a country of some 335,000 souls reportedly set to welcome up to 1.6 million visitors this year.
Previous videos include the now-classic, 'How to avoid hot-tub awkwardness' (see above) with future instalments set to include 'A Guide to Safe Selfies'.
Iceland, we salute you.
The competition (inspiredbyiceland.com) closes on October 15.
