WATCH: Did you know there's a deserted village on Achill Island?
Slievemore is a haunting reminder of times past - a deserted village lost in time on the Wild Atlantic Way.
This video, captured by Seán Molloy of Achill Tourism, gives a bird's-eye view of the ruins, stretching beneath the foot of Slievemore Mountain on Achill Island.
Featuring the husks of up to 100 stone cottages, the village has been occupied at several stages of history, the first dating from at least the 12th century.
Its last inhabitants left following the Great Famine, but the houses remained in use for booleying - or staying in while cattle grazed summer pastures - up to the early 20th century.
Today, the evocative ruins seem lost in time.
