WATCH: A stunning day in the life of Ireland's Ancient East

Tourism Ireland has unveiled a dramatic new video featuring 5,000 years of heritage in Ireland's Ancient East.

The timelapse film, by Dublin-based Crooked Gentlemen, features some mouthwatering footage shot from dawn to dusk in five sites.

Glendalough, Newgrange, Castletown House, Hook Lighthouse and Kilkenny Castle look splendid in all kinds of light... we're smitten!

The video hits devices just as Ireland's 2017 tourist season is set to crank up in earnest, with the ' Global Greening' initiative set to light up over 100 global landmarks and buildings over the course of St. Patrick's Day.

In 2016, some 10.5 million overseas guests visited the island of Ireland, a figure the promotional organisation hopes to improve upon this year.

Social media is playing an increasingly important role in its marketing, with almost four million fans now following Tourism Ireland on Facebook.
