The cable car linking Dursey Island and the Beara Peninsula is a stunning attraction for visitors, and a lifeline for locals.
Just a handful of people live on this small, West Cork Island, using the cable car to transport them over a mutinous Atlantic sound below.
Visitors can use the car also, taking the 10-minute crossing (the car fits up to six people at a time) and disembarking to a wild walking paradise.
Dursey is just 6.5km long and 1.5km wide, and has no shops, pubs or restaurants - so remember to bring food and water if you plan to walk.
The full, 14km Dursey Loop should take fit walkers about four hours.
Check the timetable and weather forecast before you go, remember to plan for the return journey, and bring binoculars if you're a birdwatcher.
