We can't decide whether Cody Townsend's descent through a vertical chute in Alaska's Tordrillo Mountains is crazy or cool. But either way, it's unmissable.

Cody Townsend can certainly ski.

Whether the big mountain man is certified genius or just plain certifiable is less certain. But the run that won him 'Best Ski Line of 2014' at the annual Powder Awards (below) is not to be missed.

Unsurprisingly, the footage has gone viral about as quickly as Townsend shoots through a wafer-thin gap in the mountains roughly 75 miles from Anchorage.

The run was filmed both from a helicopter and a POV camera attached to Townsend's helmet, giving a rollercoaster 'you-are-there' effect as he barrels downhill.

Townsend also won "Best Male Performance" and "Full Throttle" at the awards.
