The LOLs are landing

From Keyboard Cat to Dramatic Chipmunk, Delta Airlines has crammed just about every Internet meme into its new in-flight safety video.

Overly Attached Girlfriend is in there.

So too are Annoying Orange and Harlem Shake. In fact, Delta Airlines has sought to pack a decade’s worth of Internet memes into its new in-flight safety video.

Described as the “Internetest safety video on the Internet”, the six-minute clip features the usual instructions – stow your tray tables, lifejackets under seats – alongside numerous nods to online phenomena.

Here it is, for your viewing pleasure:

Delta's latest LOLs... sorry, safety video

A boy helps his brother Charlie with an oxygen mask, only to have his finger bitten. A guy who famously became emotional at the sight of a double rainbow is seen stashing them in an overhead bins.

Oh, and a flight attendant does the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Also referenced are the I Like Turtles Kid, Screaming Goat and the Hamster Eating Burritos.

It’s not the first time an airline has used humour to encourage people to pay attention to the in-flight safety briefing.

Air New Zealand has produced a Hobbit-themed offering, featuring actors from the film series, as well as videos starring Bear Grylls, the All Blacks rugby team and the rapper Snoop Dogg.

Land of the Rings?

Our all-time favourite, however, is this cheesy effort from Bangkok Airways, featuring dismally choreographed dance moves, plenty of exaggerated saluting and thumbs ups, and one of the most ludicrous songs ever written.

Oh dear.
